Window Cleaning – Spaying WHAT on your Windows?

Have you ever wondered what is REALLY in that stuff you are spraying (and inhaling) and using on your windows?  Have you ever attempted to read the label?

I did, today. I know, kind of geekish, but I live in Eugene, Oregon and label reading is pretty common.

What caught my eye was the tag on the window cleaner saying it’s “Greenlist” Ingredients same great product.

Hmmm. What does Greenlist mean?  Is it a safe product to use in my home?

Off to their web site to find some answers. They have done a nice job of listing many of the ingredients in the window cleaner. They are:  Isopropyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, 2-Hexoxyethanol, Ammonium Hydroxide and a few more ingredients…

My curiosity is up, I have to know what this stuff is. I’m not a chemist, so I Google the ingredients. I end up on the OSHA site and then also looking at some MSDS sheets.

These ingredients are AWFUL. Why would anyone who knows what is in this stuff use it in their homes! Seriously!

Short version? Some of these ingredients are flammable, they can cause eye and mucus membrane irritation. Some are absorbed through the skin and can cause damage to the central nervous system!  Seriously folks, for clean windows!

Time for some options to making our selves and our families sick, yes?

Please, pass this post on to your friends, especially friends with children or people with breathing issues.
